Many of you (and I must confess I speak for myself!) may never have come across the Manatee before. When we were choosing the endangered animals to inhabit the buildings a Manatee was not first on my list. They are beautiful though, and endangered. We chose the Manatee to inhabit the Kimberlin Library. Commonly known as a 'sea cow' they live in coastal waters and rivers for example along the North American east coast, they're also found in the Amazon River and the west coast and rivers of Africa... Thanks for all the positive feedback so far on the Greenview app. Tomorrow I'll be introducing the five wonderful animals - all endangered species - that we're all connected to through our energy consumption and associated carbon emissions, and that are spending time with us at DMU!

Well, at long last I'm delighted to announce that our iphone/ipad app is now available from the iTunes store. Just search 'Greenview' and it should come up. This is result of a unique collaboration between De Montfort University's IESD and IOCT. The app allows DMU staff and students (and anyone really!) to see the electrical consumption of 5 of our buildings in a fun and different way. Greenview was up in Newcastle this running a workshop on our project at the second 'All Hands Meeting' of the RCUK Digital Economy network looking at the theme of Digital Engagement. It was a fantastic conference and a great opportunity for us to showcase the app we've been developing. The app is 90% there now. Gareth and Dave have worked with Graeme Stuart to get the app working really well.
The workshop was really well attended and we got lots of useful feedback on the app.

This briefing paper is the first output of the JISC funded project: PROCO2. The aim of PROCO2 is to explore how to re-engineer procurement and re-imagine the University thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
